Grove - Our very first knit
As Ter Molst constantly grows and innovates, thinking outside the box has become second nature. With our first knitted upholstery fabric Grove, we have done just that.
Even though knitting has been used as a textile technique for centuries, it is relatively new in the upholstery world. Not surprising, as it takes extensive research to get right. The benefits, however, far outweigh the effort.
Unique benefits
A knit is known to be versatile and stretchable in four ways, which renders it ideal for rounded furniture especially. It is these characteristics that make knitted fabrics so sought-after. And then we haven't mentioned the beautiful three-dimensional effect, with complex structures that reveal surprising nuances. A true eye-catcher.
In-house production
Grove is distinctive in more than the creation of the fabric. The yarn itself is primarily constructed from Harmolan PP, which is made in-house. The biggest benefits of this are that it is sustainably produced – with no water and very little energy – but also that we always have it in stock. With over 50,000 rubs on the Martindale test, it even surpasses upholstery standards and makes Grove suitable for both contract and residential use.
A familiar collaboration
For this unique feat, Ter Molst collaborated with Global Textile Alliance Belgium, a sister brand in the Love Home Fabrics family and even neighbors in our factory in Wielsbeke. GTA Belgium has over 70 years of experience in mattress ticking and we couldn't ask for a better partner.
